New Range - Aluminium Roof Outlets

Key Features and Benefits

Superior Performance and Compliance

  • Hydraulically Engineered: Our aluminium roof outlets are designed for optimal hydraulic performance, ensuring trouble-free operation that exceeds the lifespan of typical buildings.
  • Standards Compliant: Manufactured from aluminium silicon alloy LM6, these outlets comply with BS EN 1676, BS EN 1559, BS EN 1706, and BS EN 1559, making them suitable for most flat roof drainage applications.
  • High Flow Performance: With drainage flow performance meeting BS EN 12056 standards, these outlets ensure efficient water management.

Innovative Design

  • Optimal Water Flow: The outlet body features a deep integral sump to control water flow into the pipe. The domical grates include a patented baffle that prevents water swirl and air entrapment, maximising drainage capacity.
  • Secure and Durable: The excellent weight-to-strength ratio of aluminium provides robust performance while being economical, while the lightweight nature of aluminium facilitates easy transportation and application.
  • Sealed Integrity: The waterproof membrane is securely applied using a clamping ring, ensuring a perfect seal and preventing leaks.

Versatility and Options

  • Variety of Configurations: Available in multiple drain body variations with spigot and threaded outlet connections, these outlets support vertical, horizontal, or 45º discharge.

Low Maintenance

  • Efficient Design: Domical grates allow rainwater to flow while preventing debris from clogging the outlet. The offset fixings of the clamping ring and grate ensure an unobstructed throat for optimised flow and easy maintenance.

Ease of Installation

  • Lightweight Material: The lightweight material makes Harmer outlets easy to handle and install and suitable for various lightweight roof decks.
  • Comprehensive Accessories: A wide range of accessories, including extension pieces and pipe adaptors, ensure a successful installation in most roof constructions.

Cost-Effective and Sustainable

  • Durable Construction: Diecast in LM6 aluminium alloy, these outlets resist corrosion in atmospheric and marine environments. Polyester powder-coated clamps and grates further enhance durability and longevity.
  • Sustainable Material: Aluminium is 100% recyclable, making these outlets a cost-effective and environmentally friendly choice. Aluminium outlets can be recast into new products at the end of their functional life.

How many outlets for a flat root?

Roof Outlet Applications

We stock an extensive range of flat roof drainage outlets for a number of applications.

Low Pitched and Flat Roof Outlets

The Harmer AV aluminium high-performance roof outlets allow optimal flow of water and reduce the number of outlets needed per m2. The range includes options for all types of flat and low-pitch roofs. Outlets can be supplied with an extended spigot.

Balcony Outlets

The Harmer aluminium balcony outlet is discreet and can installed on new or existing buildings. Balcony outlets have a flat grate for safety in pedestrianised areas and can easily be connected to our aluminium downpipes.

Aluminium Roof Outlet Range Components

All outlets are made of three components:

Outlet Body

The outlet body features an integral sump to control the flow of water into the pipe.

Grate

Dome grate - domical grates allow water to flow freely while stopping any debris or loose chippings from entering the outlet.

Flat grate - Flat grates are used in areas with traffic or pedestrians.

Both grates can be removed easily without the need to disturb the clamping ring or the waterproof seal.

Clamping Ring

The clamping ring is designed to tightly compress the waterproof membrane against the outlet body, ensuring a completely secure seal. The side fixing of the clamping ring and domical grate to the outlet body, applicable to both AV and Detail outlet types, keeps the throat entirely clear, optimising flow and easing maintenance.

Service & Maintenance

Proper maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance of your flat roof outlets. Including outlets in a building maintenance routine will ensure your drainage system functions efficiently.

Before Completing Any Drainage Scheme:

  • Ensure overflows are provided.
  • Anticipate blockages - never rely on a single rainwater outlet.
  • Once installed, inspect the rainwater outlets to confirm that all components are correctly fitted and all nuts and bolts are tight and secure.
  • Remove any tacks, nails, and screws left by other trades, as these can damage the membrane if stepped on.

Establish a Regular Inspection Plan:

  • Inspect the outlets regularly, at least twice a year, typically in autumn and spring.
  • In areas with nearby trees, clear leaves more frequently to prevent congestion.
  • Be vigilant for plastic bags that may blow onto the roof and block the strainer.
  • Remove airborne grit and fine particles that can silt up the inlets and restrict flow. Regularly clear silt and leaves from the outlets.
  • Check that overflows are fitted with leaf guards.
  • Clear any blockages immediately to prevent the system from overflowing.

By following these maintenance steps, you can ensure the longevity and efficiency of your flat roof drainage system.
